Blueberry Limeade

Wow, it is hot today! We tried to beat the heat with this cool drink. Sadie and I went to work and had fun making it together. It is a great kids drink because they can do it all, and when do you get to pound something with a rolling pin!  You can substitute your favorite sweetener for sugar, just make sure to find the proper proportion, as many sweeteners are more concentrated than sugar, requiring less to be added.

Blueberry Limeade
serves 8

12 limes
1 1/2 cups blueberries
1 1/4 cup sugar

Combine 10 slices limes, 1 1/2 cups blueberries, and 1 1/4 cups sugar in a large pot.
Pound mixture firmly with the end of a straight rolling pin or large spoon, extracting as much juice as possible, about 10 minutes.

Stir in 6 cups water. Pour through a sieve into a large bowl. Press solids until all juice is extracted. Discard the solids. Serve over ice. Makes 9 cups.
