Citrus Punch

For the Fourth of July I made up this great punch in hopes of using up a lot of citrus we had on hand. It worked and tasted lovely as well. Serve it as is, with fizzy water or spiked with your favorite hard drink.

Citrus Punch
serves 10-12

2 cups of sweet citrus juice, freshly squeezed
1 cup of tart citrus juice, freshly squeezed
1 orange, sliced
1 batch of simple syrup, cooled
2 quarts cold water
6 strawberries, pureed
1/2 mango, pureed
ice

Add everything to a big jar or punch bowl, add ice and sliced oranges. Stir and serve.

For sweet citrus use: navel, valencia, tangelo, blood orange
For tart citrus use: lime, lemon, or blood orange
Blood orange tends to be more bitter than sweet. So use it with other oranges or not at all if you want a sweeter punch.

Simple syrup:
Mix 2/3 cup sugar and 1/2 cup water in a small sauce pan. Bring to a boil. Remove from heat and let cool.

Fruit Puree:
Add strawberries and sliced mango to a blender and process until smooth.
